The longer we stay in, however, the more withdrawn we become. The more withdrawn we become, the less energy we have. As we become less energized, depression may set in … and the cycle goes on. If you find yourself with less energy or you’re not as happy or upbeat as you usually are, read through the following strategies and see if there is at least one that you can implement. It may make quite a difference in your space and in your life!
Keep your front entrance clear and welcoming. Maintain a clear and open area outside and inside your front door. Remove any blockages, such as snow on the outside and clutter on the inside. Maintain a clear path to your front door. A wind chime, bell and lights are excellent chi enhancers at this time of year.
Remove all clutter -particularly low-lying clutter. Clutter is anything that you don’t use, need or love. It can hold you in place and prevents new opportunities from coming your way. If you are not ready to part with your clutter, at minimum pick it up off the floor. Depression can manifest in areas where low-lying clutter exists.
Use full spectrum light bulbs (such as GE Reveal Brand). Full spectrum lighting mimics sunlight and contains all colors of the spectrum. It also triggers serotonin production, which in turn, helps lift your mood and creates good feelings.
Add the color orange. It creates joy. You can introduce orange through simple things: a bowl of oranges, flowers, plant, tablecloth, napkins, clothes. You don’t need to overdo it, particularly if you don’t like orange. A little bit can go a long way.
Fix anything that is broken or leaky. Broken and leaky things can negatively impact your health and prosperity and they deplete your energy. It is very important to maintain things in excellent working order. If something breaks, fix or replace it as soon as possible.
Wash your windows inside and out …to gain a clear view. Windows represent your outlook on life. If your windows are dirty or foggy, chances are, that’s how you view things in your life. Clean your windows and gain a fresh, clear perspective.
Hang birdfeeders or wind chimes …to attract positive chi. Birdfeeders and wind chimes will attract a positive life force to your space, which in turn will attract good chi or energy.
Dust and/or wash all of your lights and lampshades. Replace any burnt out light bulbs. Dusty and dirty lights and burnt bulbs can negatively impact the way you view things around us. Burnt light bulbs can reflect something that’s burnt out in your life. Replace the bulbs, clean the lights and rejuvenate yourself.
Light a scented candle or burn some incense. Both will stimulate your senses. Select a fragrance that you love and find uplifting. Pleasant odors help uplift your mood and increase your awareness.
If you need a big boost of energy, move 27 things that you haven’t moved or used in a year. Shifting things in your space shifts energy. So, even though we may not be spending a lot of time out of doors, there are many things you can do indoors at this time of year to attract positive energy into your life. Try one or more of the above strategies. I think you’ll be happy you did.
