Neutrality is a helpful space to create on the journey to <a class="zem_slink" title="Inner peace" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inner_peace" rel="wikipedia">inner peace</a>. It helps to strip away all that blocks inner peace and happiness from bubbling up from deep within. Here are three questions to ask yourself and help trigger a more open <a class="zem_slink" title="Neutrality (international relations)" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neutrality_%28international_relations%29" rel="wikipedia">neutral state</a> as you go through your day.</p>
<p>What if just for today….</p>
<p>I practice shifting the gears in my mind from any negativity to <a class="zem_slink" title="Neutrality (international relations)" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neutrality_%28international_relations%29" rel="wikipedia">neutrality</a>?</p>
<p>I actively open to neutrality in response to negative events and situations?</p>
<p>I interrupt repetitive thought loops when I notice them and invite neutrality to take root in my <a class="zem_slink" title="Bodymind" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bodymind" rel="wikipedia">body-mind</a>?</p>

Resistance can be subtle—I have noticed that I can be fundamentally positive in my philosophy or outlook but still have a subtle resistance to certain events or situation. Resistance constricts our energy and contributes to low <a class="zem_slink" title="Energy level" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Energy_level" rel="wikipedia">energy states</a> and negative moods which then create more of the same. We need to actively intervene in this cycle in order to erase its hold on our energy and <a class="zem_slink" title="Nervous system" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nervous_system" rel="wikipedia">nervous system</a>. Once we are &#8220;onto&#8221; the subtle ways of resistance, the increased energy motivates us to keep practicing until we have a new pattern installed.</p>
<p>Here are three affirmations to help release resistance you may not even be aware you are holding.</p>
<p>Today I will notice the subtle ways I resist and say “No” to life.</p>
<p>Today I will notice how the inner resistance I hold constricts my energy and feelings and contributes to negative thought loops.</p>
<p>Today I can practice softening and opening to a more spacious feeling in my mind and body, not fighting or resisting what is and simply notice the effect.</p>

<p>We are <a class="zem_slink" title="Energy" href="http://www.wikinvest.com/industry/Energy" rel="wikinvest">energetic</a> beings living in a sea of energy and just as the energy of the universe takes many forms and has many layers, so do WE. To fully connect with and express our best selves in the world then it is imperative to have <a class="zem_slink" title="True self and false self" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/True_self_and_false_self" rel="wikipedia">true Self</a> <a class="zem_slink" title="Knowledge" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knowledge" rel="wikipedia">knowledge</a> and Self <a class="zem_slink" title="Awareness" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Awareness" rel="wikipedia">awareness</a>. These are most efficiently gained through understanding  of the structure of our <a class="zem_slink" title="Mind" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mind" rel="wikipedia">minds</a> and energy systems.</p>
<p>It has often been said that “knowledge is power,” and nowhere is that truer than when we are speaking about ourselves and the lives we create. Self-knowledge includes understanding how we work as human beings as well as how we have personally operated up until now to construct our lives.</p>
<p>That brings us to Self-awareness. Self-awareness includes the ability to observe oneself, but the way we are using the term implies even more than that.</p>
<p>We share the view that each of us is in the world to bring more of our spiritual nature into human form – to become more of our authentic <a class="zem_slink" title="Self" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self" rel="wikipedia">Selves</a> and grow past the small identity that may have served us well until now but no longer does.</p>
<p>We live in a time that necessitates living in new ways &#8230; a time that requires us to rise to challenges from a different perspective than in the past so we can live lives that are more nurturing, satisfying, fulfilling, abundant and prosperous in every way.</p>
<p>To us, the term Self-awareness represents a knowing beyond observation of our patterns of thought, feeling and action. It describes a presence of “I AMNESS” that is beyond the average thought, feeling or sensation of human experience. It is the direct awareness of our spiritual nature.</p>
<p>We are addressing moving from the lower mind controlled by the ego and its self-protective – but often mistaken – ideas and beliefs to a level of BEING that embodies more of your spiritual essence &#8230; your soul nature. This is the place where we embrace our full potential and engage the power of our authentic Selves.</p>
<p>There is an art and science involved in this opening to the authentic Self. The way has been laid out for us through the millennia, but now we have the additional benefit of research in Mind-Body Medicine and <a class="zem_slink" title="Energy (esotericism)" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Energy_%28esotericism%29" rel="wikipedia">Energy Psychology</a>, as well as <a class="zem_slink" title="Quantum mechanics" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_mechanics" rel="wikipedia">Quantum Physics</a>, documenting age-old wisdom and providing important information to help speed us along on this exciting adventure of discovery.</p>
<p>The beginning of this journey necessarily includes a working knowledge of the mind, as it is the vehicle that transports us for a portion of our journey.</p>
<p>Our mind is not only an operating system; it is also where many of our obstacles lie. To understand the mind’s structure and have a working knowledge of its functions can help smooth our way as we seek to create change in our lives.</p>
<p>In this session we discuss the three levels of mind and how to use each of them appropriately. We talk about methods that are most useful with each level and provide an experiential exercise to help you begin to identify and sort out the layers of your own mind.</p>

We are all too busy&#8211;it is practically a global epidemic! How this crazy busy buzzing that we live in came about is not altogether clear. It seemed to creep in somewhat gradually and so stayed below our radar. Nevertheless, we all can pretty much say now that we know what the phenomena is and how it feels. Many people feel like they are slaves to a life they hate but cannot escape. At this point it may seem like it is unavoidable and necessary. That may or may not be true, but we will not know until we can see clearly beyond the feelings of frustration and overload. At the very least we need to find ways to deal with it to avoid burn out! In the process we may find that a clear perspective not only feels better, improves our health and well being, but it also allows us to see opportunities we did not see under the pressure of the stress response.</p>
<p>Being busy in the ways we are these days insidiously takes control of our lives until it feels out of our hands. This busyness creates toxic stress, contributes to accidents and mistakes, as well as adding conflict to relationships and severely reducing the capacity for creativity or to relax and enjoy life. Perhaps if we look at the short time we have on this planet we could also say that the biggest harm comes from keeping one from what is really important.</p>
<p><em>Energy flows where attention goes. Attention and Intention are two of the biggest influences for how our life force is channeled and used.</em></p>
<p><strong>One of the first steps to bringing the stress and busyness under control</strong> is to define what most matters to you&#8230;what is really important. It is so easy to get caught up in activities that do not really matter to us and that do not really contribute to our personal or professional lives.</p>
<p>What is really important to you in each area of your life?</p>
<p>Where would you like your energy to flow more freely?</p>
<p>How would you like to feel each day? What if you took periodic one minute breaks and felt that through the day&#8211;like building an energy account?</p>
<p>What would it take for you to take back your intention and attention&#8230;come off autopilot and structure your life according to what is important to you?</p>

<p style="text-align: center;"> Over the next two weeks I&#8217;ll be writing here  about some ideas to take charge of time and energy without giving up what is necessary and helpful in our lives. <p>Our five senses draw our <a class="zem_slink" title="Attention" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attention" rel="wikipedia">attention</a> to the outer <a class="zem_slink" title="Universe" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universe" rel="wikipedia">physical world</a>. When we have a predominately outer directed focus we look for our inner needs to be filled through material sources. This is usually a short lived and unsatisfying solution. This orientation also tends to lead to blame, criticism, judgments, and compulsivity (repetitive behaviors expecting a different outcome).</p>
<p>Being outwardly directed tends to produce reliance on a <a class="zem_slink" title="Spirit" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spirit" rel="wikipedia">spiritual being</a> external to ourselves. We beseech this <a class="zem_slink" title="God" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/God" rel="wikipedia">Greater Being</a> to bestow favors upon us &#8211;and we continue to define ourselves through the physical, roles and material possessions. This way of being is one of limited <a class="zem_slink" title="Consciousness" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Consciousness" rel="wikipedia">consciousness</a>. Paradoxically, it is a <a class="zem_slink" title="Mind" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mind" rel="wikipedia">mind</a> set that both begins and ends in fear. An outer focus leaves us up one day down the next with no center to hold on to.</p>
<p>Life is change. Consciousness that is attached to the outer world does not help us to move with the cycles of change. In addition, it does not help us to increase our capacity to function in the world in a meaningful way that leads to peace, joy &amp; happiness.</p>
<p>Our sixth sense draws our attention inward and assists us to truly find the means to resolve issues, release struggle and longing and receive the true fulfillment of our deepest desires. This <a class="zem_slink" title="List of inner path articles" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_inner_path_articles" rel="wikipedia">inner path</a> allows us to examine thoughts, feelings and beliefs that lead to problems. It opens the way to creative problem solving. Expanding our consciousness beyond the physical and material world awakens you to who you truly are. From there you can transcend limitations, expand creative ability, and step into true power, tolerance, understanding and vitality.</p>
<p>Proper alignment and attunement of the energies of body, mind and spirit provides us with a clear and present awareness. This awareness allows you to know what is good for you, as well as to attract to you those things that assist you to be happy and healthy.</p>
<p>You can become more conscious of what robs you of your natural healthy state and eliminate the sources of your struggles. Instead of <a class="zem_slink" title="Learning" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Learning" rel="wikipedia">learning</a> just another technique or take on another method of learning that feels like a burden, you can identify the roots of your reactions and difficulties and change them permanently.</p>
<p>One of the things I especially like about becoming attuned to our personal energy is that it helps to bring us into a mindful, &#8220;present moment space&#8221; where we can develop a new relationship with our bodies and minds to create health and happiness from the inside out! Energy work also helps to bring balance to life, and allows purpose, meaning and wisdom to emerge from within&#8211;the only place it can truly come from!  Learning to be more in touch with your personal energy can also aid you in riding the waves of life more gracefully. We have an innate capacity for joy, pleasure, harmony and a <a class="zem_slink" title="Wine tasting descriptors" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wine_tasting_descriptors" rel="wikipedia">balanced</a> spiritual toughness that goes largely untapped. These inner capabilities can help us to find pleasure in everyday life.</p>
<p>As a culture it seems that we are grappling with yearning for deeper meaning and that can only really emerge through deeper connection within ourselves, to each other and the world. Learning to quiet our minds, make friends with our inner world through energy and consciousness provides the means and the path.</p>

<p><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">Nature has much to teach, but this is perhaps its best and deepest teaching.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">A <a class="zem_slink" title="Seedling" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seedling" rel="wikipedia">seedling</a>, the beginning of form holds the promise of what is to come.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">The life force of the <a class="zem_slink" title="Seed" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seed" rel="wikipedia">seed</a> does not fret about its process. It does not wonder how it looks. It is not concerned about what obstacles may be encountered in its journey forward. It does not seem to care or be impatient regarding how long it will take until it blossoms into final form.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">In nature new life gracefully moves through its process, at times moving rapidly…at times moving so slowly it almost appears as though growth has ceased. At all times however it unabashedly takes what it needs from the sky, the earth, the wind and rain….and they in turn seem grateful to provide.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">A seedling simply perseveres, growing along according to its own unique blueprint so it eventually becomes what it will be within its own design.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">This process of new life unfolding embraces many stages. </span><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">In none of these stages does the seed weigh or measure its progress or bemoan its fate. </span><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">The seedling does not seem to worry that it is not deserving of the sunlight, that it is not good enough to drink the rain. All phases and transitions are simply part of the journey to the full expression of the seed’s true nature. The tiny life form takes what it needs, adapts to shifts in environmental changes and perseveres, growing according to its own blueprint…..  moving steadily onward toward what it will become…ITS SELF.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">The seed travels onward through its <a class="zem_slink" title="Biological life cycle" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biological_life_cycle" rel="wikipedia">life cycle</a> toward ripeness when its mature fruit easily and freely drops to earth in a willingness to change yet again— the life cycle continuously renewing.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">We can learn to live with the same grace, beauty, fullness and seamless dancing spirit.</span></p>

<p>Rollin McCraty from <a href="http://heartmath.com">HeartMath Institute </a>has a great question for himself at the end of the day, &#8220;What did I feed the field today&#8221;? He is referring of course to the idea that we have a significant impact on our world through the energy field&#8212; that it matters what we put out in terms of our focus&#8212;for us and for others. This is a great question to ask at anytime of the day to help keep us focused on where we are at and where we need to adjust&#8230;not out of harsh self criticism or judgement just simple awareness.</p>
<p>Some help for the journey&#8230;</p>
<p><strong>The Impact of Thought and Emotion</strong></p>
<p>Thoughts, <a class="zem_slink" title="Emotion" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emotion" rel="wikipedia">emotions</a> and feelings of all types are a major part of our human experience. They (along with free will and judgment) differentiate us from animals and other life forms.</p>
<p>As humans, we have a wide range of emotions. We are meant to feel. If we are to be healthy, fully express our authentic nature and bring the best of our selves to the world, then we must know how to let emotions move fluidly and easily through our systems and not repress them or get stuck in them!</p>
<p>Knowing how to work positively with all our emotions builds our energy and helps us move more rapidly and simply toward the lives we desire. We hold memory all throughout our <a class="zem_slink" title="Bodymind" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bodymind" rel="wikipedia">body-mind</a> &#8230; no experience escapes our notice. Our life experience is imprinted through our energy and nervous system into our biochemistry and into the cells and organs of our body.</p>
<p>Thoughts and feelings affect the energy throughout all our systems, but perhaps most important is how they connect deeply in the heart and help shape our experience of the world. Our thoughts and feelings are two primary ways we manage our energy, but they don’t necessarily always work in unison.</p>
<p>We are very capable of thinking one thing and <a class="zem_slink" title="Feeling" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feeling" rel="wikipedia">feeling</a> another. We can “know” something in our mind and experience it a totally different way in our heart and body.</p>
<p>Cellular memory is imprinted more through how we feel about something than through how we think about it or how we rationalize it. As a result, we have the feeling police deep inside: the body knows your truth! This is why it is so critical to clear the patterns and beliefs of the past – not because we are bad or have sinned and need to set our records straight, but because through our lack of knowledge and awareness, we have created obstacles that block our health, well- being and happiness.</p>
<p><strong>Releasing judgment, embracing self compassion, letting go and acceptance</strong></p>

You can work this into a daily meditation rather than making it a whole new task to accomplish. Things in the internal world can be accomplished with ease — where there is no time and no space, there is magic!</p>
