Holiday Relationship Rescue: Four Tips to Create Healthy Relationships

Monday, December 21st, 2009

Family get togethers, office parties, neighborhood gatherings—at this time of year we have so any opportunities for encountering the relationship dynamics that exist in our lives. At other times of the year they may be less apparent, more able to recede into the background or be avoided but the holidays bring us right up against them!

A major necessity for healthy relationships that work for all involved are good boundaries. Without them we fall into victimhood, feel out of control and overwhelmed by the demands, needs and desires of those around us.

How can we begin to approach this issue of establishing healthy boundaries?

 1. Develop self respect, self love and self acceptance. We have all heard that we need to care for ourselves before we can to truly care for others. This must become a reality that lives within you instead of simply an idea that exists in your mind.

2. Boundaries are not about conflict, acting against another or doing something TO them. Boundaries are about identifying what YOU will do, be, tolerate or expect in a relationship. With healthy boundaries you take charge of your self—you do not and cannot control others.

3. Bring your focus back to yourself instead of trying to be in another’s head—attempting to mind read them. Be clear on your values. Identify your beliefs about what is important and healthy for you.

4. Center and ground within your own energy field.  Work with techniques that help you to connect with your core, practicing until you can reliably contact the peace and love that naturally exists there. Develop the ability to maintain that focus, learn to live from that center instead of attempting to think or analyze your way through each relationship situation. Working in this way provides you with a more reliable means of creating healthy boundaries out of which flows the most appropriate and kind response to others.

On Monday, December 21, 2009 we will be discussing more about boundaries and how to take charge of your energy. We will be talking about three common types of energetic interactions and how to make them positive for you and others. In addition, we will be introducing four patterns that are used to maintain control, fill up energy reserves and attempt to get needs met. As with the three types of energy flows between people, these patterns can have a positive or negative influence. It is your awareness, knowledge and ability to manage your energy that makes the difference. So don’t go into the holiday  gatherings unprotected and unprepared —learn what is going on beneath the surface of social dynamics and you can sail through the holidays energized, rested and able to truly enjoy the season!

Click here to access the show or the archived program: http://www.divatoolbox.com/diva-toolbox-radio-/hosts/2007-peg-donahue-and-karen-kallie-living-energy.html

This session recording includes such topics as:

  1. Individual and universal energy connection and conscious creation
  2. A historical perspective on thought and creativity
  3. Physics of belief and the necessary link for releasing blocks

In addition there are many suggestions and tools to help you to:

  • harness your energy for conscious creation
  • develop your ability to manage your energy
  • expand consciousness for enhanced intuition and spiritual connection

Here is a brief excerpt from the section of the program where we discuss contributions from various teachers of conscious creation throughout this century:

In the 1990s we began to hear from William Tiller, a scientist and Stanford Professor who has been very involved in his own spiritual development since the sixties as well as conducting experiments, writing and reporting on matter, energy and the nature of consciousness. Dr. Tiller has contributed much to our understanding of the unseen forces in our universe and our relationship to it all.

Two essential to solve the puzzle of reality formation:

1. Intentionality combined with coherence is key for creative results.

2. We need to develop our infrastructure, that is our nervous and energy systems, through inner self management methods in order to grow in consciousness and be able to adequately guide universal forces on our behalf.

Re-Energize to Reduce Stress

Friday, December 11th, 2009

Learning and using the language of energy helps you to reduce stress, let go of fear and expand your consciousnsess without the heavy lifting!

We often speak about the importance of centering and grounding energy as a key way to reduce anxiety and stress as well as a means of maintaining your energy supply. Those methods are certainly two important ways to maintain and manage your energy as you move through your day. However, we are human and are not always going to be successful at remembering to practice such techniques.

With that in mind, we’d like to suggest another simple technique that you can use to help you become aware of how you are depleting your energy and recoup some of what you have ‘lost’. This methods also helps you to  develop greater awareness about how you are “spending” your energy so you can shift the pattern and learn to remain energized throughout your days.

Before you drift off to sleep at night take a moment to identify where you sent your attention and intention throughout the day. (Remember energy follow intention and attention-so if you do not actually sense energy just paying attention to these areas can help you do what you need to).

What thoughts about the past or future have you been thinking about? What worries or unresolved issues came up? What feelings re: certain people, places or things have been preoccupying you? What have you been fearful of, anxious about, or ruminating over? These questions help  to increase your awareness about where your energy has gone. They are not meant to begin a stream of self judgment about how you create your own stress! This is simply one more way to increase self knowledge and thereby gain more mastery over your mind and your energy.

The next step is to take a few moments and settle down into a relaxed state of body and mind. Once you have settled, begin to imagine that you can drink the dissapated energy back into your body with the in breath. With the exhale feel as though you are ”depositing” the energy into your body’s core. (Most people will experience their core somewhere in the center of their body–let your intuition guide you as to what feels right for you.)

It may be helpful to imagine that the energy you sent out is contained in many brightly colored streamers. Imagine that you are drinking the energy back to you just like you would drink liquid through a straw.  Use whatever imagery helps put you more in touch with the feelings of this exercise.

You may be surprised at how simple it is to feel more relaxed and energized once you begin to be more in charge of your energy supplies! AND, if done at bedtime you may find that you sleep better!! Obviously if you find that this process energizes you then you may want to pick a different time of day to do it.

Energy, Relationships and the Global Heart

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

On our radio show on Monday we began a two part discussion on the energy of relationship and how to shift out of old patterns through that awareness.

This brief video by Anodea Judith speaks to a similar theme: that our energy systems play a major role in navigating change and creating a better experience for ourselves and the world.

Here’s a brief recap of our Monday discussion and some notes about next week’s continued discussion about how to improve your relationships through energetic awareness.

(1) Energy as it pertains to and is reflected in the changing roles of men and women in current society

(2) The specific types of energy flows that occur out of conscious awareness between people.

Our primary point in this discussion is: Understanding the energetic interchanges between you and another can make it much less difficult to shift from negative ways of relating to positive ones that help form more profound loving bonds that can help create a better life and relationship for all concerned.

Three Types of Energy Field Interactions that we highlighted in this show were:

(Note each of these types can be either a positive or negative force depending on one’s basic energy signature, intention, unresolved issues or stress)

 1. Harmonic Induction: Adjustment of vibratory rates

2. Streamers: Fluid like energy between fields

3. Cords: Energy connecting between chakras

To hear the details of this discussion you can hear the recording here: http://www.divatoolbox.com/diva-toolbox-radio-/hosts/2007-peg-donahue-and-karen-kallie-living-energy.html

AND, just in time for those holiday gatherings with friends and family Next Monday Dec. 13 @ 10 A.M. we will be continuing our discussion with Holiday Relationship Rescues.

In this show we will talk more about how to take charge of your energy and make those three types of energetic interactions positive for you and others. In addition, we will be introducing four patterns that are used to maintain control, fill up energy reserves and attempt to get needs met. As with the three types of energy flows between people, these patterns can have a positive or negative influence. It is your awareness, knowledge and ability to manage your energy that makes the difference. Eight Key Energy Facts That Affect Your Health and Relationships!

Friday, December 4th, 2009
  1. Each strong thought or emotion creates a response in your energy field
  2. Fear & stress reactions tend to vibrate more intensely and easily
  3. Disturbances in your field cut you off from higher level functions
  4. Habitual thought and feeling patterns affect body’s energy, health & well being
  5. Inconsistencies in energy field show where disturbances may manifest in future
  6. Changing thought patterns takes persistence
  7. Changing emotional patterns takes will and strength
  8. Working directly with energy & consciousness provides you with an easier and more powerful method for change, health, development of higher level functions and achievement of goals

When you understand and manage your energy you can offset field disturbances and introduce a healthy pattern e.g. shift frequency, enhance coherence,  dissolve blocks to assist with healing or avoid illness. You can physically bring in new energy at the pre cellular level and create new patterns.

Your energy field is your primary immune system and you can learn to support and strengthen it so it will serve you in every facet of your life!

As youwork with your field, enhancing its strength and coherency, you’re not locked in to energy patterns unconsciously. This means you can adapt to circumstances and flow with life more easily. This ability provides you with a profound sense of empowerment anda deep inner peace in addition to the health and relationship benefits!

The ability to manage your energy is a major bonus in attracting healthy relationships, as well as in maintaining them and being able to create deep and lasting bonds.

Join us for our radio show on Diva Toolbox on Monday Dec. 7, 2009 as we discuss how energy operates in relationships  and how you can use the magic of energy to not only attract, but to sustain and build healthy, happy and rewarding relationships.

If you cannot join us live, the show is recorded and available for listening later.

Living Energy: Thanks-Giving, A New Habit

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

At this time of the year we begin to turn our attention to the upcoming holidays and all that they mean. Of course there is the busyness, shopping and increased social commitments. But there is also a deeper current that flows through this time of year. It seems that many of us feel that current and yearn to connect with it as it seems to promise a more fulfilling state of being than the one we generally get caught up in during this time.

At the first of these holidays, Thanksgiving, our thoughts turn to menu planning, travel and seating arrangements, invitations and how to get it all done in the midst of an already busy life! The deeper feelings of gratitude and appreciation symbolized by this day get a passing nod in media hype, a brief grace said at the dinner table or in a lament about not having the time to pay attention to those aspects of life!  There are many reasons for this but perhaps the key issue is a lack of understanding regarding the real influence of these feelings and so they are relegated to the airy-fairy file.

Gratitude and appreciation are emotions, feeling states that have been studied at length and have been shown to profoundly impact our physical, spiritual and emotional health. When you experience them your heart rhythms change, your nervous system becomes more coherent and your whole physiology behaves differently—all in the direction of health and more efficient functioning. Why would you not want to engage in an activity that is so simple, pleasant and easy and promises to provide such benefit? There are no gym fees, heavy sweating or big chunks of time taken out of your schedule. It merely requires a desire to take charge of your own mind, learn how it functions and point it in the direction you wish instead of allowing it to run amok in its conditioned default patterns. The feelings of gratitude and appreciation set up a vibration within you that are worth the price of admission to make them the standard instead of a sometime event!

 So, how can you begin?

Simply by asking the right questions!

What do I have to be grateful for?

What in my life do I really appreciate?

Remember to think broadly. We live life moment by moment. The huge awards, recognitions, and ‘deals’ are not daily fare. To some they never come —and they may be the lucky ones as they may be more in touch with the deeper rhythms of life where there is more juice, feeling and connection to the real stuff of being human. That it not to say that material success  is wrong or to be turned away from, only that often too much attention in that direction can result in a disconnect within a person that leaves them empty, longing and entrenched in pretense rather than in the authenticity that leads to a sense of inner fulfillment.

So think about the moment….the warmth of the sun, the crispness of the air, the beauty of the sky. Where can you find beauty today? Where can you find the touch of peace? What do you see that warms your heart?

Before you go to sleep tonight identify five things that made you happy, feel complete or that you appreciated. Remember to count yourself things you value about YOU!

Use your memory to call up images of times when you felt grateful…play those over and over instead of the wouldas, couldas, shouldas that tend to rumble around in our minds!

Make placing your attention on gratitude a habit and you may begin to notice that a subtle inner peace is growing and has brought you “home for the holidays”!

5 Tips for Staying Stress Free

Friday, November 20th, 2009

Your energy system has a direct influence on your mind, body and spirit. It impacts your health, your moods, your outlook on life and much more. By tuning into your personal energy level throughout the day you will feel better and begin to develop a foundation for being able to expand your ability to manage, focus and channel your energy.

  1. Upon awakening, before you even get out of bed, notice how you feel. If you dreamt something that has a negative hangover effect, consciously release it. Use whatever means you can to accomplish this: EFT, breath-work, imagery and pivoting can help you shift your feelings.
  2. Choose you emotional state for the day. Yes, you can! Let yourself feel ease, peace, well being to whatever level you can and imagine flowing that good feeling out from your deep inner center into your day.
  3. As you move through the day notice what expands and opens you and make it a point to settle into these feelings. Appreciate and feel gratitude for all that is present that is adding to your life. (These feelings create very real biochemical and neuro-hormonal changes.)
  4. Notice what triggers negative feelings or thought patterns and consciously release them as best you can as they arise. At times there may be a need for more than you can manage in the moment. If the latter is the case, schedule time to do what you need to in order to collapse those patterns more thoroughly from your bodymind.
  5. As you notice what diminishes and drags you down can you also begin to think about how you can consciously make choices that eliminate those situations from your life. That may not be possible in all cases, but you may be able to let go of more than you realize. Over the longer term you can do what you can to build and strengthen your energy in order to more easily change de-energizing ways of reacting to the situations or people in your life that cannot be eliminated.

We would love to have you join us on our radio show on Diva Toolbox on Monday 11-23-09 @ 10 A.M. where our topic will be Practical Solutions for Holiday Stress. If you cannot make it at that time the show is aways recorded and you can access it from our link on Diva Toolbox.

Wisdom for Wednesday–and Everyday

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

From one of my favorite people, a wonderful statement on shifting from a feeling of powerlessness to one of empowerment.

“Who lives a life of joy? Who in this society knows the day to day thrill and privilege of being alive?”

These two questions can lead us all to a daily choice-

1. To let drop away all that blocks our experience of  life as a gift and privilege

2. To do what it takes for the energy of joy to find its free expression through our being.
