Moving Past Fear–Part 3

Sunday, May 23rd, 2010

It takes energy to move beyond fear.  We must go to a level other than the cognitive to alleviate fear and anxiety.  A preventative approach is very helpful. By reconditioning our nervous systems through daily meditation or deep relaxation training we develop stronger systems that do not knee jerk into a fear response as easily. This also makes us more keenly aware of when a feeling is beginning and we can release it earlier rather than later when it has had time to build into something too difficult to manage.

Introspection that helps identify old unprocessed material that may be causing your system to be overly sensitive is also useful. In addition, if there are long standing issues in regard to chronic anxiety and fear then a nutritional status check is warranted. Our systems need certain nutrients to function properly. The ability to maintain proper inner balance is made more difficult if the proper nutrients are not available.

Learning skills that work to ‘erase’ the effects of old input and unconscious automatic reactions are also useful. These methods can work ‘on the spot’ to reduce fear and anxiety as well as erasing lifelong patterns. The Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is one such approach.  Emotional Freedom and Healing is another.

Meditation techniques that help you learn how to remain present and open to difficult feelings with no resistance, simply observing them without your normal responses can be very powerful ways of releasing embedded patterns of fear.

Breathwork is another technique that functions well as an on the spot remedy as well as a preventative one. Most people who experience a great deal of fear or anxiety have breathing patterns that are a contributing factor.  Sit quiet for a moment and listen to your pattern.  After you get a sense for it, breathe consciously.  Breathe slowly and deeply.  Pull your breath as deep into your abdomen as you can.  Hold it for a few seconds and then slowly let it go.  Repeating this process for five or ten minutes at a time is an excellent way to bring yourself into the present moment.

Ultimately, developing higher consciousness, an ability to live from a higher level of awareness or the authentic self, is perhaps the best solution to alleviating fear and anxiety. However, it is important to remember that this is a process and not an event. It requires a deep fundamental shift within, a commitment and participation in order to be cultivated and become a way of BEING.

Shift to being present at all times.  You will then live in the space where fear does not exist.

Both our recorded programs, 12 Keys for Life and Self Mastery and Feng Shui and Chakras: Inner and Outer Balance, include helpful information about releasing fear, as well as guided exercises to help you learn methods to permanently release fear’s grasp.

An Energy Called Fear

F.E.A.R.

 False Evidence Appearing Real

 FEAR! False? Not real?

 How can we say that?

Everyone knows we all feel fear and it’s real!

What this acronym hints at is that there is a lot of fear that is unnecessary….perhaps most!

According to Eckhart Tolle, author of The Power of Now, fear is always a projection of something that might happen, not something that is happening now.  When we let our mind wander into the future, we create an anxiety gap between what is real and what we are projecting to be real.  The future is not real.  Only the present is real.

Fear is a psychological condition that is separate and separates us from who we really are.  It comes in many forms such as nervousness, unease, worry, dread, anxiety and more.  If we allow it, fear can grip us so tight that we lose touch with our inner and true self.  Fear separates us from our true power and our inner source.

Fear manifests in our minds through our ego self.  When we identify with our lower mind, the ego runs our life.  When we let fear take over, we yield our personal power to others.  When we identify with our heart, we can become the creator of our lives.  There is no place for fear in the heart.  When it comes down to it, fear is not real.

Although fear may seem to have many causes…stay tuned, more to follow on Thurs. re: the causes as well as the antidotes for fear.

Your Energy is Your Personal Power

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

Energy is your personal power. When you allow others to control you, when you attempt to control them, when you cannot forgive, or when you focus more on the needs of others and sacrifice your own, you are giving your power away.

 “Where attention goes, energy flows.”

Unresolved issues from the past bind energy that could be flowing through your life! Fear of the future dissipates energy that could be filling you with joy! Bringing your energy into the present allows you to create the life you love to live.

What is your typical habit of mind?

Where is your energy focused?

Do you focus on your  strengths or your weakness?

Are you focused on what is right or on what is wrong?

Are you focused in the present?

Through focusing on (feeling) what is strong, right, present and flowing we can bring power to what we would most like to change. Doing the opposite weakens and drains energy so there is nothing to bring to creating more of what you DO want!

POWER VS. FORCE: Developing Personal Power

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

A key concept in learning to live from the inside out using energy and consciousness is understanding the difference between personal power and force. Personal power means different things to different people and even different things to the same person, depending on many factors, including: life stage, level of consciousness, personal experience and predominate belief system.

When you hear the words “personal power, “what comes to your mind? When we have asked that question in our classes we hear responses like:

  1.  Presence
  2.  Balance
  3.  Choice
  4.  Being present
  5.  Knowing
  6.  Happiness
  7.  Inner Peace

These answers bring up another question for exploration: does personal power come from having these feelings or are these feelings an outgrowth of embodying the essence of personal power in your core?

Growth, Change and Creativity Part II

Friday, March 12th, 2010

Once you answer the previous post’s questions re: creativity, you may want to take a deeper look at how you can approach life with more creative awareness. Reflect upon these more specific questions to gain a deeper insight into your patterns.

What is necessary to bring a creative style to your life and to cultivate it?

Do you have a space of your own where you nurture your creative nature and drive? How can you create one?

Do you have the physical energy to fuel and birth your creative output? If not, what needs to happen to build that energy?

Do you have the emotional energy – the passion – to fuel and develop your creativity? What needs to happen so this can develop?

Do you take the time to nurture your soul, the place where creativity originates? How can you decide to change this and make time to breathe soul into your life?

Four Steps to Enhance Your Co-Creative Ability

Life Cycles: Growth and Change

We are all aware that there is a cycle of growth and change, but we typically do not pay a lot of attention to where we may be within the cycle. The result is that we are not in sync; we are out of rhythm with ourselves, our lives and with the natural timing of all the cycles of which we are a part.

If we pay attention to this natural process and where we are within it, we can become more efficient, patient, and remain healthier as we cut down on frustration and pushing rocks up hills.

Becoming Aware of the Creative Cycle

1.  When you are thinking about creating something new in your life, do you treat it as a creative process and consciously use stage-appropriate methods and tools?

 2. How would your response to change and transitioning from one phase of life to another be different if you honored these cycles within your life?

3.  How would your approach to consciously creating your life change if you incorporated awareness about the stage you were in?

4.  Do you nurture creativity in general in your life?

In the next post we will explore some questions that can take you deeper into looking at how you can approach life with more creative awareness. These more specific questions can help you to gain a deeper insight into your patterns.

Understanding Surrender and Acceptance

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

Whenever we are wishing for something to be different from what it is, we are energetically holding it in our lives.

In our culture the word surrender is loaded with negative connotations, such as giving up, wimping out, being weak, unable to cut it. However, surrender in the context that we are using it is a deep feeling of letting go of struggle and conflict: it is about accepting what is in the moment, not fighting it – accepting the reality even as we seek to see what can be done to change or move beyond it.

Surrender helps to bring your heart into coherence through the inner peace and calm it generates. To truly surrender we need to let go of wanting, yearning, wishing, needing and directing. When we are in these states, our focus is on what we feel we don’t have. We are in a vibration of lack or scarcity. Sometimes we become stuck and even paralyzed by these feelings.

Since our energy reflects our inner state, it is stuck, paralyzed, not moving, so it holds us in place rather than moving freely so it can be channeled in a stronger, more positive direction.

When our focus is on what is missing from our lives, we create more of what we feel we don’t have. We create more of what is missing. Developing an attitude of acceptance – acceptance of the way things ARE – enables you to move beyond patterns of resistance and bring peace to your heart. Acceptance does not mean that something or someone is right or wrong. Acceptance is acknowledging things just the way they are now. It’s just allowing them to be, without judgment. Judgments tear at our energy and do us much more harm than the person, place or thing that we are judging.
