Has Your Energy Been High Jacked?

Have you ever wondered why you feel so differently with the various people in your life?

Why is it so easy with your best friend and so difficult with a certain relative…you know the one!

Are there people you feel secure with? Are there those who make you feel peaceful, happy or content and then others who make you feel uneasy, anxious or depressed?

Obviously there are interactions and our own inner dynamics that occur that contribute to our feelings, but the questions here are meant to draw awareness to those feelings that seem to arise for no apparent reason between you and another.

Your personal energy field holds the key to blending easily with one person and not another.

We each have our own individual frequency. When our frequencies are similar to another we feel rapport. Auras of dissimilar frequencies result in discomfort, tension or agitation. Our first impressions of another are often based on how our auras harmonize. Even though our fields may not resonate well with each other we can harmonize dissonance over time. However, there may be those people that are so out of phase with us that no matter how we may try, it is just too difficult, frustrating and exhausting to continue to try.

Entrainment: feng shui for the spirit

We can learn to adjust and change frequency with practice-   a sort of shape-shifting that allows us to adjust to many environments and people. This is easier for people with flexible fields than for those with more fixed fields.

To consciously manage this process means living from center and being able to maintain your inner stability or grounding. This ability allows you to interact with many people and environments in a positive way and is also very healthy and empowering. It is when we are unconscious that we are impacted negatively.

The most common way we interact energetically is through entrainment or harmonic induction.

The rate of vibration in your field affects others. A stronger field will induce change in a weaker one. We all know people we like to be around because they calm or energize us. We also have people that we have difficulty being around as they bring our vibration into a range that is uncomfortable for us.

Energy and Interaction

  • Energy is constantly being given off or absorbed due to its electromagnetic properties
  • An exchange of energy occurs each time you come into contact with another
  • Energy interacts through harmonic induction, streamers, chords
  • Electrical properties of energy are giving, the magnetic are absorbing
  • The more people around the more energy exchange taking place
  • Longer/more intimate contact, the greater the exchange

Through our energy we leave imprints on each other, objects and our environment. This explains breaking in periods, favorite blankets, toys, and prayer shawls. The more you are exposed to certain patterns the more you are affected by them. We can use this information to our benefit, E.G. having a special place where we meditate, relax or go to reboot our energies.

One of the most important things to realize about harmonic induction or entrainment is: it is the strongest energy that will prevail, not necessarily the healthiest energy—the strongest. So if you are unaware and are around angry, sad or depressed people then your field will entrain and soon you will be feeling what they are!

Awareness, connecting with your own field and practicing
centering and grounding your energy is the way to be sure that your field is
not high jacked and brought to a place you do not want to go! In addition, it
feels good, adds to your well being, happiness, inner ease and peace.

Energy, Feng Shui and Mother’s Day

Creating Loving Relationships

One of the underlying aspects of feng shui is the energy associated with the position in the family.  Since May is the month for Mother’s Day, I thought it would be appropriate to talk about the area associated with “Mother.”  From a feng shui perspective, the area of “Mother” is the most yin and the most feminine sector of the bagua.  It is located in the back right corner of your space (or the SW) … your yard, your house, your business.

The area of Mother is also called the Receptive.  It represents the energy of the earth –which is comforting, caring and nurturing.  This area is also about building and developing relationships.  In popular terminology, this sector is called Love and Marriage as well as Relationship.

Earth corresponds to things that receive … such as a big open heart, open fields and pastures, pillows and cushions, open arms.  Earth energy is a supporting and transforming energy.  It is also a stabilizing force.  Earth gives as well as receives.  Earth unifies and joins things together.

If you are a mother, take time to care for yourself first.  In order to nurture and care for others, you need to nurture and care for yourself.  Mothers are so used to giving to others that it may seem selfish to receive things for oneself.  However, being able to receive is a key component of nurturing others.  If you give and give without taking time to replenish yourself, you deplete your energy.  You get run down.  This Mother’s Day, treat yourself well and do at least one thing special to nurture your inner soul or to make yourself feel great.  Get a manicure or a massage.  Spend time with a special friend.  Curl up with a book for an afternoon or evening.  Eat a delicious and healthy meal.

When Earth energy is in balance, you feel grounded, supportive and safe.  You may also feel very comfortable and protective, but not over-protective.  People feel comfortable with you and comfortable confiding in you.  People will gravitate to you.

Too much earth energy can make you feel stifled and smothered, or “over-mothered.”  Your thinking may be muddy and you may worry constantly.  You might be afraid of doing things wrong, so you take no action at all.  If you are feeling stifled, try wearing something white, pastel or even metallic colored.  Also try wearing some gold or silver jewelry.  While doing so, imagine yourself clear-headed and feeling very grounded.

If earth energy is deficient, you may find yourself so worried about survival that you lack the ability to explore emotions and spirit.  You may have trouble with building and maintaining relationships or you may cling and hold onto people and relationships too tightly.  If you are feeling low in spirit, passion and energy, try wearing something red, pink or even yellow.  These colors will help to perk you up. The reds will bring in more passion and the yellow will strengthen communications.

When you are working to strengthen or perhaps even attract a relationship, pay particular attention to back right corner of your space.  Make sure that this area is well maintained and free of debris.  To freshen it and your relationships as well, clear everything out and give it a good spring cleaning.  Only return things that you love or use.  Thin a few things out, such as those things you no longer care for or anything you haven’t used in the past year.  Clear out things from prior relationships.

I worked with a client recently who would like to bring a relationship into her life.  Interestingly enough, there was a fire in her home last year- in the back right corner of her house.  To me, this fire symbolically represented a clearing out of old relationships in order to let a new one take root.  Fire turns things to ash or earth.   Life, in turn, grows or develops from earth.  It is a cycle we are so familiar with that we take it for granted. Think about the forest fires that plagued several western states last year.  Thousands of acres were burned to ash, only to begin the growth of the forests again.  It’s a natural cycle.

Perhaps you’d like to strengthen your relationship with your mother.  If so, work with the Family area as well as the Relationship area.  The Family area is the left center of your space.  Place a beautiful or happy picture of your mother here.  You might also write an affirmation (in the present tense) describing your perfect relationship with her.  Place this in a red envelope on the left center side of your desk or dresser.

As you think about the relationships in your life, what comes to mind?  Are they healthy, vibrant and strong?  What changes would you like to make?  What changes are you willing to make?  As you think about this, try to be very clear.  After all, you attract situations to yourself based on your thoughts and feelings.  As a quick reference, here are nine things you can do to help strengthen relationships in your life:

 1)      Clean out the back right corner of your yard, your house, and every room in your house.  Remove all clutter from this area.  Clutter is anything you don’t use or love.

2)      Keep all plumbing, electric, windows and doors are in excellent working order.

3)      Place a pair of something in this area, preferably something that brings you joy, such as a beautiful set of candlesticks, a picture with a happy couple, two animals side by side, a pair of colorful flowers or even flower buds for a budding new romance.

4)      Place a picture of a happy relationship in this area.

5)      Place something red or pink in this area.

6)      Write an affirmation (a positive statement about what you would like to happen, written in the present tense) just as if it is happening now.

7)      Move 27 things in this area that haven’t been moved in a year.

8)      Place a vase of fresh, colorful flowers here.

9)      Light a pair of candles.

Balancing Inner and Outer Energy

Wednesday, April 27th, 2011

Occasionally we have all experienced a current of energy or consciousness – a way of BEING, a state where everything feels seamless and in sync. We move easily from one moment to the next with a sense of meaning and purpose. We feel peace, joy, and a sense of well being. This state has been called “flow”, coherence, or being in ‘the zone’. It feels magical when we find it! This experience is akin to being centered where we embody our true nature, the essential self. Unfortunately, this is often a fleeting experience … a moment of grace in the midst of a life filled with stress, conflict, boredom, striving, emptiness, and perhaps poor physical or emotional health. Under these circumstances, learning to create this flow state and consciously design the lives we long for may feel like an added burden. The truth is that an effort is required. However, we can learn to introduce this state of flow into our lives more consistently … and the effort does not have to be a burden; it is ultimately incredibly freeing, reduces stress, and helps facilitate change with ease!

Consider this: a road map for developing consciousness in order to access your inner wisdom, healing, and truth. Our personal energy system provides just such a map. If we learn to consciously manage it, we can connect with deeper aspects of ourselves that radiate inner peace, freedom of expression, and health. Through understanding how to navigate our personal energy system, we can find ease, harmony, and inner strength. We can learn the difference between effort and struggle and eliminate the root of our problems as well as discover positive solutions.

Inner Feng Shui: Applying Feng Shui principles to your inner landscape!

Monday, February 21st, 2011

In the same way that we use a principle of Feng Shui to de-clutter our homes, it is also important to de-clutter our minds! As the previous post stated, we sabotage ourselves daily. We do not mean to pull the rug out from under our selves, but it can happen even with our best conscious intentions. What trips us up on the road to our dreams is not what is in conscious awareness. What blocks our way is the ‘stuff’ of our mind that is like junk in the basement that has been packed away in boxes for so long that we have forgotten it was there. And then there is the ‘stuff’ that we told others they could store there or the ‘stuff’ that came from the ancestors that accumulated quietly in the corners! No one intends for this to occur, it is just part of the experience of being human.

By becoming aware of what is rocking around in the basement of our mind (subconscious) and eliminating it we can free up energy to direct toward what we truly desire in our lives.

We all have developed some ‘mistaken beliefs’ about ourselves, others or the world. The best and easiest place to start cleaning house is to look at these with an eye to eliminating what we can and making the rest more functional.

What follows is a list of some of the most common troubling beliefs that people carry deep within. Take your time to read through the list and notice which ones cause you to react. You may experience strong emotions or perhaps only a slight discomfort. OR, you may have an adverse reaction such as: “Well that’s foolish, who would ever think that!” Sometimes strong denial is our biggest clue that there is something going on in the deeper realms! So read the list slowly, giving yourself the gift of an honest appraisal.

 Faulty Beliefs

I’m not good enough

I’m not acceptable

I’m not loveable

I don’t deserve to be loved

I’m not wanted

I don’t belong/ can’t find my place in this world

Nothing ever works for me

 Life is a struggle

 I can’t express myself well/at all

 Nobody understands me

It’s not safe to trust

I am betrayed by life

 I am insignificant

I am not capable

There’s no hope for me

I don’t deserve to love/ be loved

I am stupid

I cannot be myself/have no real sense of who I am

I am weak and have no defenses

I am always/will be/deserve to be deprived and abandoned

Becoming aware of these beliefs may even be painful at the start. However if you commit to rooting them out, the rewards you gain will far outweigh any discomfort you experienced. Identifying them is the first step. Taking steps to erase them from your inner programming is the second. There are many tools for doing this and many are included in our recorded programs. Some people prefer to work individually with a practitioner to ferret out and release these beliefs. The important thing is that you DO something, they will not simply melt away because you want them to!

Here are some tips to help you along the way–

1)  De-clutter your space.  You can begin with a small area such as your kitchen table or even a counter-top.  Remove all trash.

2)  Write 1-3 intentions about what you wish to happen in your life.  Write these very clearly.  Be specific.  Write them in the present tense, just as if they are happening today.

3)  Get ready to receive what you wish to happen.  Get out of your own way and believe it can really happen.  It you doubt it, it won’t happen. It’s that simple.

 4)  De-clutter your mind through examining and eliminating unconscious beliefs

 5)   Use the power of your mind via imagery, visualization and relaxation to help you  release problem beliefs as well as to install new programs for success.

 6)    Notice the small successes.  The best growth is through the ‘feel good’ not the ‘feel bad’.

Feng Shui for Winter Blues!

Thursday, January 20th, 2011

The longer we stay in, however, the more withdrawn we become.  The more withdrawn we become, the less energy we have.  As we become less energized, depression may set in … and the cycle goes on.  If you find yourself with less energy or you’re not as happy or upbeat as you usually are, read through the following strategies and see if there is at least one that you can implement.  It may make quite a difference in your space and in your life!

Keep your front entrance clear and welcoming.  Maintain a clear and open area outside and inside your front door.  Remove any blockages, such as snow on the outside and clutter on the inside.   Maintain a clear path to your front door.  A wind chime, bell and lights are excellent chi enhancers at this time of year.

Remove all clutter -particularly low-lying clutterClutter is anything that you don’t use, need or love.  It can hold you in place and prevents new opportunities from coming your way.  If you are not ready to part with your clutter, at minimum pick it up off the floor.  Depression can manifest in areas where low-lying clutter exists.

Use full spectrum light bulbs (such as GE Reveal Brand).  Full spectrum lighting mimics sunlight and contains all colors of the spectrum. It also triggers serotonin production, which in turn, helps lift your mood and creates good feelings.

Add the color orange.  It creates joy.  You can introduce orange through simple things: a bowl of oranges, flowers, plant, tablecloth, napkins, clothes. You don’t need to overdo it, particularly if you don’t like orange.  A little bit can go a long way.

Fix anything that is broken or leaky. Broken and leaky things can negatively impact your health and prosperity and they deplete your energy.  It is very important to maintain things in excellent working order.  If something breaks, fix or replace it as soon as possible.

Wash your windows inside and outto gain a clear view.  Windows represent your outlook on life.  If your windows are dirty or foggy, chances are, that’s how you view things in your life.  Clean your windows and gain a fresh, clear perspective.

Hang birdfeeders or wind chimesto attract positive chi. Birdfeeders and wind chimes will attract a positive life force to your space, which in turn will attract good chi or energy.

Dust and/or wash all of your lights and lampshades. Replace any burnt out light bulbs.  Dusty and dirty lights and burnt bulbs can negatively impact the way you view things around us.  Burnt light bulbs can reflect something that’s burnt out in your life.  Replace the bulbs, clean the lights and rejuvenate yourself.

Light a scented candle or burn some incenseBoth will stimulate your senses.  Select a fragrance that you love and find uplifting.  Pleasant odors help uplift your mood and increase your awareness.

If you need a big boost of energy, move 27 things that you haven’t moved or used  in a year.  Shifting things in your space shifts energy.  So, even though we may not be spending a lot of time out of doors, there are many things you can do indoors at this time of year to attract positive energy into your life.  Try one or more of the above strategies.  I think you’ll be happy you did.

The Dance of Energy

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

Life is an intimate ongoing dance between our personal energy and that of the universe. Science is now affirming what philosophers and sages have been telling us for centuries. We live in a participatory universe. What we do, and how we think, feel, and believe all have an energetic reality. This energetic reality not only impacts us but also others and the planet itself.

The Energy of Creativity

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

Yesterday on our radio show we spoke with Haya Leah Molnar, author of Under a Red Sky , about her book, early childhood experiences in a communist country, and about how early life experience helps to shape one’s connection to innate creative abilities.

As Ms. Molnar’s story unfolds it is clear that her family experience was one that supported her creative development in spite of the difficult circumstances in the broader environment.  The love, acceptance and support of her family, as well as their own deep connection to their own creativity, bathed her in a web of energy that encouraged the unfolding of her gifts.

Others may not have been so fortunate as to have the kind of openness, care and nurture of their creative spirit as Haya Molnar.  However that does not mean that creativity is lost to them. Each of us has an innate creative capacity. We may not think of our particular abilities as being creative if they do not follow the traditional expressions of art forms. Nevertheless we do possess this capacity. For many the flow of that energy may have been shut off or constricted due to family messages, neglect or simple lack of awareness.

The good news is that we can all recover, reconnect and enliven the creative flow within us. Working directly with our energy system provides us with the means to do just that. First, we must understand that energy system and have the methods to be able to heal any damage, strengthen our connection with our inner flow and learn how to effectively direct that flow of energy.

Here is a brief excerpt from Chakras and Feng Shui: Balancing Inner and Outer Energy that helps to explain how disruptions in our energy field result in a breakdown in our life function and experience.

The seven major chakras each contribute a layer of energy to what is commonly known as the human aura. Each of the chakras is responsible for a particular physical, psychological, and spiritual aspect of our functioning. They also seem to operate as encoding or storage devices for our life history.

When any one energy center is disrupted or damaged, that aspect of the field’s frequency is affected resulting in a disturbance of energy. These disturbances can be transmitted to other layers of the field, causing them to malfunction as well. Disruptions cause the equivalent of leaks, improper flow, and obstruction of energy in what should be a free flowing system. The result is that the energy field weakens and fatigue sets in. Over time, this weakening can cause mental, emotional, spiritual, or physical dysfunction. These distortions in the field prevent us from radiating our potential fully and completely. They prevent an experience of ourselves as whole and healthy, and compromise our capacity to relate positively to others.

Recording History

We have all been exposed to a variety of negative emotional states in our lives: fear, pain, anger, and trauma. Often, when we experience these powerful emotions, we are too threatened or overwhelmed to fully process them.

When we experience stress or a threat, real or imagined, the flow of energy increases to prepare us for fight or flight. If neither is possible or chosen, we override these impulses, even though the body has been energized. Repetition of this type of situation results in living with an energetic contradiction of activation and inhibition. This results in a frozen intensity known as “tonic immobility” or the “freezing response.”

Since we are unaware of our inner processes, we tend to believe that once an event has passed, it is over and has no further impact or influence over us. Unfortunately, this is not the case physiologically. Our responses to life are continually registered within our energy system.

When we are not able to release or discharge energy that has become activated, a portion of our being becomes locked inside, and future free expression of that energy is inhibited. Coping strategies that were meant only to help us in these acute, stressful events develop into chronic patterns anchored in the psyche and body. These holding patterns shape our energy, create body armor, and ultimately break down our emotional and/or physical health.

Understanding when and how we respond with unhealthy patterns enables us to minimize their effects. We then can adopt methods that build positive energy, leaving behind overwhelming feelings and a sense of emptiness. Traditional methods of change focus on insight and behavior, and generally fail to release problems at their core. Methods that allow our conscious mind to connect with a deeper organizing level of awareness can help to effectively discharge our troublesome patterns. It is then that we have a “complete experience” that results in increased energy and clearer awareness to bring to our lives. Our true nature or pure consciousness is our mind without distortions, misperceptions, or defenses. Through freeing ourselves of old limitations, we move more toward that state, and develop greater power to consciously create our lives.

Building a healthy foundation of strong, positive energy allows us to manage difficult life events with more ease and less distress. Learning to transform harmful patterns allows us to live in the present with abundant energy available to consciously channel toward increased peace, joy, health, and happiness.

Feng Shui

Feng shui is the practice of living in harmony with nature. Chi is one of the key aspects of feng shui. Chi is energy. Three principles of chi are that: everything is alive, everything is connected, and everything is always changing.

From a feng shui perspective, your environment mirrors your inner self. Your body is influenced by the chi of your environment and vice versa. Observing and understanding the patterns within and around you is a first step to bringing about change.

Vibrational patterns in your environment are created by many different variables. As you listen and read through this program you will become more aware of some of these.

Energy, Feng Shui, and the Authentic Self

Everything is Energy

For thousands of years people have known that everything is energy. In Feng Shui we study the I Ching (pronounced “ee- jing”), one of the oldest books from China. This book is also called the Book of Changes. It is about the continual changes in the Universe. It is about living in harmony and balance with nature. It is about action and reaction. It is about going with the flow and what happens when you don’t. Three laws of nature that humans share with all species and the earth in general are (1) we are alive, (2) we are connected and (3) we are always changing. We are deeply connected to the earth and all animal and plant life around us. We have gotten out of balance with nature and now realize how integral this relationship is to our well-being. One way we are connected to other people and living beings is through the power of thought. Have you ever had a thought, only to find someone close to you had the same or similar thought? Thought is energy. To understand our collective thought or mass consciousness, look at what appears in the news and what grabs our focus or attention every day. These thoughts have energy. The energy increases as the thoughts are fed. As the thoughts are fed, they are given more power. As they are given power, they become real or the “truth” as we know it. And the story goes on.

 Energy takes many forms

The energy of the universe takes many forms and has many layers, and so do WE. If we are to become all we can be, with the ability to channel and shape our life force for the greatest benefit, then it is necessary to have a working knowledge of the hardware and the software of our Selves.

We have all heard “knowledge is power,” and nowhere is that more true than when we are speaking about ourselves and the lives we create. Self-knowledge includes understanding how we work as human beings as well as how we have personally operated up until now to construct our lives.

That brings us to Self-awareness. Self-awareness includes the ability to observe oneself, but the way we are using the term implies even more than that. We share the view that each of us is in the world to bring more of our spiritual nature into human form – to become more of our authentic Selves and grow past the small identity that may have served us well until now but no longer does.

We live in a time that necessitates living in new ways … a time that requires us to rise to challenges from a different perspective than in the past so we can live lives that are more nurturing, satisfying, fulfilling, abundant and prosperous in every way.

To us, the term Self-awareness includes a knowing beyond observation of our patterns of thought, feeling and action. It describes a presence of “I AMNESS” that is beyond the average thought, feeling or sensation of human experience. It is the direct awareness of our spiritual nature.

In this work we are addressing moving from the lower mind controlled by the ego and its self-protective – but often mistaken – ideas and beliefs to a level of BEING that embodies more of your spiritual essence … your soul nature. This is the place where we embrace our full potential and engage the power of our authentic Selves.

There is an art and science involved in this opening to the authentic Self. The way has been laid out for us through the millennia, but now we have the additional benefit of research in Mind-Body Medicine and Energy Psychology, as well as Quantum Physics, documenting age-old wisdom and providing important information to help speed us along on this exciting adventure of discovery.

The beginning of the journey to your authentic self necessarily includes a working knowledge of the mind, as it is the vehicle that transports us for a portion of our journey. Our mind is not only an operating system; it is also where many of our obstacles lie. To understand the mind’s structure and have a working knowledge of its functions can help smooth our way as we seek to create change in our lives.

In session two we will be discussing the three levels of mind and how to use each of them appropriately. If we are to bring our best selves to light, then it is necessary to have the knowledge, skills and ability to manage our basic operating systems so they work for us rather than be left to default patterns that can upset our best efforts at creating a life we love to live.
