2012: When Spirit Hits the Sidewalk!
Our radio show topic for the month of March has been on the changes associated with the year 2012 and how we can prepare and move forward in positive and effective ways to support our well-being.
This Monday we will be completing our series on this topic when we talk about
2012: When Spirit Hits the Sidewalk!
When Spirit Hits the Sidewalk! What does this mean?
Broadly this phrase is referring to a shift in our spiritual focus from a separatist, isolated perspective to a more inclusive and integrated perspective.
More simply said, we are moving into a time where the nature of our spiritual being is becoming more a part of our everyday awareness and interaction with our world—the people, places and things we contact each day. This is both a challenge and a welcome opportunity to live our lives from a deeper and richer place within each of us and to connect in ways that enrich each one of us as well as our world.
We are in the process of moving from one paradigm to another in our world and this affects every area of life including the spiritual.
Some of the topics we will talk about on Monday are:
Masculine and Feminine Power and how they differ
How the shift in our view of power affects spirituality
What is integral spirituality?
How does the old model of spirituality differ in terms of goals and practice?

One approach that can help us to understand soul development, inborn qualities and their expression is by exploring archetypes. Archetypes are patterns of energy that represent positive and negative human characteristics. Archetypes describe patterns that we manifest in our energy systems and in our lives, for good or ill.
Beyond being a symbolic language for specific energetic patterns that reflect the best and worst in human nature, archetypes can describe something of our individual soul nature. It is obvious that we all have different inclinations, aversions, assets and deficits.
Exploring archetypes can provide a deeper understanding of ourselves and our soul’s development and purpose. With this broader awareness we are freer and better able to choose a more positive natural expression of our energies.
Archetypal information resonates deeply with our psyche, so it can help us sidestep a lot of resistance to change, more easily embrace self acceptance and more gracefully shift from negative to positive expressions of energy.
As you investigate the descriptions of the archetypes, you will probably find it easy to recognize the ones that operate in your life. After all, this knowledge is already known to you deep inside!
For quick reference and as a way to begin becoming acquainted with this particular concept of energy patterns, see the descriptions below correlating the positive and negative expression of each archetypal energy as well as the chakra associated with that energy.

Belief, Concentration, Focus and Desire
Belief, concentration, focus and desire are the basics. Wrap them in any package you want. You get to choose based on what feels right to you. A philosophy or belief system has to be able to be of service to you – all of you: body, mind and spirit.
Two questions to keep foremost in your mind re: a belief:
Our opinion is that we are here to become conscious creators and need to learn the laws of the universe and how to use them in a heart centered way for the benefit of all. There are individual paths that we each take in that journey. We are always learning so we can improve our power and skill. Negative experiences are best viewed as contrast and feedback regarding what we need to master next!
There are universal laws that define how things work – not laws that we must obey but principles that we need to embrace, embody and put into action. We have been speaking about these principles throughout this 12 Keys series.
We each have strengths, areas where we do not need much development, and weaknesses, where we are not as adept. When we think about the concept of purpose, it is easy to fall into inner struggle and try very hard to figure out where we should be and what we should be doing. Instead, understanding our personal purpose requires that we be still, go within and sense the feeling of things so we can know our truth and the best way to express ourselves in the world.
Personal purpose is not so much about assuming a specific role or being in a particular place. It is more about a state of being … about developing soul qualities to bring to the world through following a path that best suits you.
Being open to releasing the obstacles that block your ability to express your own clear strong soul tone – your true Self – is a major step forward. Use the tools we have presented in this series to do just that! Skipping over this step will only impede progress toward the creation of the life you want to live. We must practice the techniques in order to embody our best selves/authentic selves/essential nature, not just absorb theory.

Wonder what you can do re: all the changes in the world?
Check out the Global Coherence Initiative!
In the last post we talked about power VS force, consciousness and what personal power means to each individual.
Here are some questions that can help you begin to shift your sense of personal power throughout the day and become more in charge of your life experience.
What is your predominant emotional tone?
Do you check in periodically with yourself and note how you are feeling and what your energy level is?
Is your breathing full and easy, bringing in lots of oxygen and energy?
How are you feeling in general?
How do different daily situations affect you?
Which ones generate stress, anger, sadness, frustration?
Do you take time to identify and release difficult feelings, thoughts, physical tensions from your system?
Can you take time and create a space between a stressful event and your reaction? Would you like to be more responsive and less reactive?
Most of us need to practice becoming more aware of what is happening inside and discovering and practicing ways to release stress from our systems. The choice to do so is a huge step toward claiming our power to create lives we love to live.
A key concept in learning to live from the inside out using energy and consciousness is understanding the difference between personal power and force. Personal power means different things to different people and even different things to the same person, depending on many factors, including: life stage, level of consciousness, personal experience and predominate belief system.
When you hear the words “personal power, “what comes to your mind? When we have asked that question in our classes we hear responses like:
These answers bring up another question for exploration: does personal power come from having these feelings or are these feelings an outgrowth of embodying the essence of personal power in your core?

Once you answer the previous post’s questions re: creativity, you may want to take a deeper look at how you can approach life with more creative awareness. Reflect upon these more specific questions to gain a deeper insight into your patterns.
What is necessary to bring a creative style to your life and to cultivate it?
Do you have a space of your own where you nurture your creative nature and drive? How can you create one?
Do you have the physical energy to fuel and birth your creative output? If not, what needs to happen to build that energy?
Do you have the emotional energy – the passion – to fuel and develop your creativity? What needs to happen so this can develop?
Do you take the time to nurture your soul, the place where creativity originates? How can you decide to change this and make time to breathe soul into your life?
