Food for Thought, Nurture for Soul

Friday, October 12th, 2007

In the previous Blog entry is a poem by David Whyte that is quite full of guidance for us to set our soul’s sails by.

Let’s just look at the first paragraph to explore the notion of allowing yourself to be present to that first moment in the morning when you awake. It is in this fleeting moment that we can access the quiet presence, the pure awareness that is ours, more easily than at other times during our busy and sometimes hectic days.

Allowing yourself to notice this moment and just be with it helps you to open up to a greater experience of your higher awareness and spiritual connection. As we have said many times in our other writings: it is not enough to know about these things, we must put into practice the concepts and theories in order to grow our spiritual muscles and influence what we create.

So just allowing yourself the gift of this early morning moment can help acquaint you with a larger sense of yourself that can grow over time and nurture you in the deepest sort of way.

Another way that you can benefit from this time when the doorway to higher consciousness is more accessible is to consciously place yourself in the feeling of flow. Once you have it moving quite smoothly and strongly within, with your mind focus it outward into your day. Insert your intentions for the day—this can be specific or broad depending on where you are in your life. An intention that I (Karen) often use is to stay mindful and touch each moment and person that I encounter throughout the day with kindness, healing and love. At other times I may focus on something I am currently working in my own development or a situation I am hoping to create.

Whatever way you choose to use this precious time, it is true that you will gradually become more aware of that part of you that “can live wholeheartedly”.

What to Remember When Waking by David Whyte © 1999

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

In that first hardly noticed moment in which you wake,
coming back to this life from the other
more secret, moveable and frighteningly honest world
where everything began,
there is a small opening into the new day
which closes the moment you begin your plans.
What you can plan is too small for you to live.
What you can live wholeheartedly will make plans enough
for the vitality hidden in your sleep.

To be human is to become visible
while carrying what is hidden as a gift to others.
To remember the other world in this world
is to live in your true inheritance.

You are not a troubled guest on this earth,
you are not an accident amidst other accidents
you were invited from another and greater night
than the one from which you have just emerged.

Now, looking through the slanting light of the morning window
toward the mountain presence of everything that can be
what urgency calls you to your one love?
What shape waits in the seed of you
to grow and spread its branches
against a future sky?

Is it waiting in the fertile sea?
In the trees beyond the house?
In the life you can imagine for yourself?
In the open and lovely white page on the waiting desk?

Becoming

Monday, October 1st, 2007

The years, like a sculptors fine tools,

Carve lines into our lives.

Lessons  engrave our souls.

Experience smooths the edges.

Age adds grace, beauty, refinement.

And as a fine work of art,

We are never finished,

But always becoming.

Noticing What Shows Up

Monday, September 24th, 2007

Recently I (Peg) had a 2 hour drive to meet with a client to “space clear” her propery of negative energy.  I decided it was an exellent time to listen to sample recordings of our Living Energy: 12 Keys to Life Mastery program.  As I was listening to a section where we discuss synchronicity and noticing what shows up … a car whizzed by on my left with a license plate that read OM.  ”Interesting!”, I thought. Within minutes, a pickup truck passed me that had “Just Married” painted in white lettering in the back window.  “What a gorgeous day to be married,”  I thought.  Not too long after that, another car passed me that the happiest golden retrievers looking out the back window.  Then I noticed that the two cars and the truck were directly in front of me in:  “OM” was directly in front on my, the “Just Married” truck was ahead of that and the car with the happy dogs was in front of the truck.

As I tuned in to everything around me, it felt great.  The air was clear, the sky was blue and the foliage was just beginning to emerge.  I was enjoying the drive. I was also enjoying the messages that were simply appearing as well as the order in which they were coming.  “OM” reminded me of the importance to to tune into our inner voice regularly.  The “Just Married” sign brought up thoughts of joy and love.  The happy dogs in the back seat of the car brought a smile to my face.

On my return home I took a side trip to one of my favorite rock and crystal shops.  At one point I happened to be directly behind a school bus on a back road.  It was a great reminder to pay attention, go slow and enjoy the scenery.  At one stop, three young girls ran off the bus and into their front yard. One of the girls scooped up her little white dog, who was almost as big as she was.  The dog’s tail was wagging endlessly,  she was so happy to see the little girl.  Again, it brought a smile to my face.  It was another reminder to simply tune in and pay attention to the small things.

As I was nearing the end of my journey for the day, another car passed with the license plate PEACE.  How nice.

So many gifts come to us daily.  Messages are all around us.  We notice them when we slow down and tune in.

Catch Up!

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

Hello All!

The end of summer into Fall transition has found us both very busy with so many things that our entries here have fallen behind—so a quick catch up as we get back on track!

We have been focusing on getting our Twelve Keys for Life and Self Mastery CD and manual program ready for release! We are still editing, but are moving forward  looking for  a distributor. Very exciting and satisfying to be on this path.

In addition, we have gotten our new Monthly Tips and  Survey up on the website and Sept. Newsletter out to you all. Thanks to Jack Donahue for his creativity, photos and technical expertise with the newsletter!! If you like his photos please let him know by posting a comment!

The Living Energy Teleclass will begin on Mon. 9/24. We are really looking forward to being with all who have signed up for the series. We always learn as well as teach in our classes and we thoroughly enjoy spending time with all who join us!

In addition to all that busyness, life has also gone on around us.

I (Karen) would like to share few thoughts in that regard. As some of you are aware, my Dad is in a nursing home and we recently had to move him and place my Mom in Assisted Living since she  is developing some issues that require care.

This type of life event is very complex, as many of you are probably painfully aware! The sheer magnitude of the paperwork, physical needs, medical and financial details  is astounding. But then there is the complexity of all the layers and levels of the heart and mind that need to be navigated by them, their children and grandchildren.

So, what does that have to do with Living Energy? A LOT! I cannot express enough the gratitude I have in my heart for having been blessed with this work. Had I not had the the learning and development that has found a home in the Living Energy projects, I would not been able to navigate this difficult life stage with the same clarity, strength and compassion (for myself and them!).

Does that mean that it has been without pain, confusion, sadness or anger? Does it mean that I have been the soul of grace throughout all this? Absolutely not.

What it means is that I have had a way to manage stress so it does not topple me. What it means is that I have allowed myself to be human and feel the whole experience, the good, the bad and the ugly. What it means is I have had the means to process, release and come to a higher understanding as a result of using the tools and principles we teach in L.E. AND I must also say, I am grateful to have been blessed with relationships that remind, enrich, enliven and comfort! Thank You!

No doubt conscious creation is a great thing. But there are also other benefits of learning and using the methods we talk so much about. Life happens. Tough situations arise. It is very empowering to know you do not have to be a vicitm through the more difficult transitions.

At one point in this past month my mind was sent back to a piece I had written almost three decades ago at another very difficult life pasage. I’d like to share it  with you as it  helped me put some perspective on deep and painful emotions. Maybe it can do the same for you when needed. Back then I did have a sense of the impermanence and flow of things, but I lacked the ability to consciously move myself through a painful process in the same way I can now. As I think about all this, I feel so strongly about the need to cultivate and honor an intricate weaving of our natural processes with our higher awareness.

It is from a higher awareness that we can guide a difficult passage and not be in frozen denial, overwhelm or rigid control. My experience is that these abilities emerge as a result of the practice, growth and deep inner development not as a result of having them as goals!

Life Cycles

Waves wash up on the shoreline,

Softly caressing the sand.

Water gently creates contours,

Sandy grooves and mounds add pattern and texture to the land.

The turn of a moment and

Once again waves crash on shore.

Now without discrimination or gentleness,

Destruction and chaos are left in their wake.

The moment turns again,

Dawn breaks.

Morning light seeps in to overtake darkness.

Winds subside.

Nature begins again to slowly, patiently put things to right

A Meditation Memory

 A Meditation Memory

Rivulets of grace course through me creating

Sparkling brightness within and without

Luminous streams move out into the air

One continuous web

Intricately woven, all of a piece

Velvet meeting silk

Ease encountering simplicity

Fullness connecting with light

  1. Meditation is a foundation technique for “energy work”.

  2. Meditation helps to integrate mind, body and spirit.

  3. Meditation helps clear and “reboot” the nervous system.

  4. Meditation improves physiological functioning.

  5. Meditation clears the mind and balances the emotions.

  6. Meditation helps in the development of our connection with Truth, higher consciousness, and the  ground of Being in this experience called life.

Explore the many  different styles of meditation. Choose one that suits your temperment. Set aside time to devote to this most enriching experience. Commit to your practice as you would to Love itself. This practice will reward you with development of inner strength and ability to persist, inner harmony, connection with your personal energy and access to higher worlds.

Teachers

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

Teachers enter our lives in all forms. They are the sky in the morning, the bird who comes to sit and sing in the tree outside the window, the hummingbird who visits to drink from the blossoms. Teachers certainly are also the events in life and the people who share our time and space.

I wrote yesterday about finding the perfect assisted living place for my Mom through intention, request and synchronicity. The place is still perfect today! However, my Mom is traveling through some pretty tough emotional spaces as the stress and fear of change create upheaval in her body, mind and spirit. Her age, memory slippage, basic temperment and lack of acquired tools to cope make it difficult for her. Like a child she will have to make this move and live in the experience before she truly knows it will all be okay, before she knows that happiness can still be in her life.

Change is always difficult. But when you are old, without tools, or have forgotten to use them, it is even more challenging. How fortunate for a lot of us that we were born in a time when there is more information and methods available to help us navigate on our way through this journey in life.

If we work with ourselves, if we grow, develop, practice and open up to new levels of consciousness, energy and awareness, then we can arrive at the difficult junctures in our lives better prepared. We can move through those passages with a broader spiritual perspective that keeps peace, hope, joy and love in our hearts in spite of the challenges. We can stare down fear from a place of acquired balance and strength. We can use our energy/consciousness and soul connection to help steady and balance those caught in fear. We can provide a safe haven, a holding place when they cannot do it or themselves.

Living Energy…the gift that keeps on giving!

Intention, Synchronicty and Coherence

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

I have been absent from the blog since after the first post since the needs of my aging parents have consumed all spare moments! BUT, it all gave me a great example of the Living Energy work and how it can work in our lives if we allow it.

My Dad is 88 y.o. and in a nursing home as he requires 24/7 skilled nursing care. My Mom is about to turn 90 and until recently lived in her own home. It has become obvious that we (my brother and I) need to make some different living arrangements for them in order to take care of their changing needs. The problem: they each have complex needs that are hard (read impossible!) to accommodate and make all the various aspects work.

After becoming a self made expert in elder services and senior facilities in the state of NH, I had reached an impasse of monumental proportions—in my mind! At that point I remembered what I teach! I went into a meditation, straightened out my energy(this took awhile!), found my lost inner peace and when I had recharged my worn out core energies and felt coherence set in, I released an intention that a living situation that met all the needs to be brought to me. I need to underline that previous practice and experience REALLY came through and helped me reach peace and coherence in spite of the stress ball that my conscious mind had created through all this.

Anyway, four days went by and I called the only option on my list figuring it was that or nothing. We would have to come up with an elaborate plan to make it all work. Once I got the administrator at that facility on the phone, she kindly told me that she was closing at the end of this month as she was retiring!!! ARGGGHHH….back to the dry, empty and frustrating drawing board! THEN, she said she could refer me to a place that may work. Fat chance I thought, since I knew all there was to know about senior care in the area. HA! Was I surprised when she told me about a brand new place that is opening Sept. 1st. I went and saw the place and it is like a dream come true….it is better than I could have imagined in every possible way! In just two days we toured, chose an apartment and my mother was taking us to dinner to celebrate having a beautiful new place to live that can take care of her present and future needs very nicely, as well as enable her to continue daily visits with my Dad and to be close to both her children.

An equally astonishing piece of this story is that the finances to allow my mother to live out her years in a safe and healthy environment with her family around her appeared quite unexpectedly, from a direction that none of us would ever have imagined and it arrived exactly on the day needed to allow all this to come together and be made a reality.

If I ever doubted that energy works, this would be the last of my doubts!

Forming an intention with your conscious mind, entering an altered state where you simply work at becoming coherent and peaceful and then releasing the intention at the end of the meditation was something I had been practicing already with good results. Applying it to my real life was a little slow in coming this time as my conscious mind really believed this was a computer, telephone and visiting search. Once I put the process in place it became easy, quick and had definitely had the makings of a miracle in my mind.

Somehow the phrase “Physician heal thyself “seems appropriate here! What is also appropriate is the reminder to use the tools (On Everything!), practice and combine the elements in the way that we have been taught that works.

Releasing Fear

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

As I was out walking today … on my summer route, along a somewhat rural road … I noticed a few dogs loose and running around.  I was on a road where the dogs on one side of the street are always restrained and are often “yippy.”

As I was watching the dogs, a car came into view.  The car slowed as it went by the dogs.  then a truck came along in the opposite direction and passed me.  As the car came closer, the driver stopped and we chatted. It was a neighbor I had met a few days ago.  He asked if I brought 2 dogs along today.  I told him “no” and said I was hoping they might be his dogs.  We continued chatting while I also kept my eyes on the dogs.  By the time we said our goodbyes, I decided to continue along.  By that time the dogs had disppeared down a driveway and were out of sight.

Although this may seem like nothing to many people, the sight of the loose dogs running around surfaced my fear of dogs.  Although I’ve done release work around it, I know that my hestitation about the dogs today means that my fear still exists.  While I was determining what to do, the Universe responded.  The car and the truck gave me some time to consider the situation and to decide what to do.  I could have turned back and taken a different route or take a chance and continue along.  Once I decided to continue along, the situation resolved itself.  The dogs disappeared. I expressed gratitude and tapped my collarbone a few times.  Later,  I  grounded my energy as I continued along.

I am particularly tuned to my surroudings when I am out for a walk.  Usually I notice the ground all around me, I study the sky (which was gorgeous today), listen to the birds and other assorted animals, notice subtle changes in the neighborhood, sort out my activities for the day and set some intentions.  Unfamiliar dogs running loose, however, do stir up a deeply seated fear of being bitten.  (It actually happened one day, many years ago.)  Now that is has surfaced again, I’ll actively continue to release it.

By the way, I never saw the dogs for the remainder of my walk. I did notice a beautiful butterfly moving right along with me.  It reminded me of the bird that acted as a guide in the The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe film.

I know that fear is not real but it feels so real every time it shows up.  Fear is irrational and it surfaces to be released and to be transformed.  It’s a continual reminder of work waiting to be done.

Noticing What Shows Up

Saturday, August 18th, 2007

I love how synchronicity unfolds in my life each day.  Lately it’s been happening a lot!  About the time Karen and I expressed our intention to take our Living Energy program into businesses, I began hearing from previous business colleagues.  I know that this is much more than simple coincidence (because there are none!).  A few days ago, shortly after Karen and I refined our intentions, I received an email from a colleague I haven’t heard from for quite a while … and he included many compliments about our website and work.  The next day I heard from another colleague asking if I would contribute to a new magazine, Spiritual Living, that will be circulating in FL.

Pay attention to your language and your self talk.  Notice what shows up in your life.  Notice if there is a connection between the two. There are no coincidences but synchronicity abounds.  Notice it and flow with it.  It’ll lead you further along your path and it’s much easier than trying to “make” things happen.
