Food for Thought, Nurture for Soul

Friday, October 12th, 2007

In the previous Blog entry is a poem by David Whyte that is quite full of guidance for us to set our soul’s sails by.

Let’s just look at the first paragraph to explore the notion of allowing yourself to be present to that first moment in the morning when you awake. It is in this fleeting moment that we can access the quiet presence, the pure awareness that is ours, more easily than at other times during our busy and sometimes hectic days.

Allowing yourself to notice this moment and just be with it helps you to open up to a greater experience of your higher awareness and spiritual connection. As we have said many times in our other writings: it is not enough to know about these things, we must put into practice the concepts and theories in order to grow our spiritual muscles and influence what we create.

So just allowing yourself the gift of this early morning moment can help acquaint you with a larger sense of yourself that can grow over time and nurture you in the deepest sort of way.

Another way that you can benefit from this time when the doorway to higher consciousness is more accessible is to consciously place yourself in the feeling of flow. Once you have it moving quite smoothly and strongly within, with your mind focus it outward into your day. Insert your intentions for the day—this can be specific or broad depending on where you are in your life. An intention that I (Karen) often use is to stay mindful and touch each moment and person that I encounter throughout the day with kindness, healing and love. At other times I may focus on something I am currently working in my own development or a situation I am hoping to create.

Whatever way you choose to use this precious time, it is true that you will gradually become more aware of that part of you that “can live wholeheartedly”.
